Dental health exams are a crucial part of your child’s overall health and dental health. They are intended to look for oral issues such as gum disease, tooth decay and other ailments that can result in more serious health problems later in life.

The oral exams will aid in educating your child and you on how to keep their teeth in good health at home. They will go over the correct diet, hygiene for children and review the use of pacifiers to ensure your child’s dental health begins strong and continues to be healthy.

It is recommended that the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children have their first dental exam within six months following the first eruption, and at the age of one year. The first exam consists of a knee-to knee exam as well as a risk assessment for caries preventative education and prevention.
